Neutral Density

A neutral density filter is used to adjust or reduce the vividness of all wavelengths, colors, or light. By blocking the desired amount of light an ND filter can make objects easier to see. They are also used in high-precision laser experiments to adjust the light to a desired level without changing the properties of the laser itself. Transmissions of a neutral density filter range from 0% to 100%, the lower neutral density filters blocking the least amount of light and the higher neutral density filters blocking a greater amount of light. There are also graduated neutral density filters which grant the ability to adjust the transmission of the light to the desired level.
